This is because the newer fans are fitted with wax actuators which are slow opening so therefore, you will need to run the fan for up to 3 minutes before the shutters open. This replaced the previous shutter operator which was a solenoid that opened the shutters immediately.

Humidistat fans detect a rise in moisture to protect the room from mould and condensation. At night time when temperature drops humidity rises causing the fan to switch on. This is not a fault as it is a functionality of the fan. When you operate the pull cord the fan goes into boost mode, which helps to clear the room quicker. When the appropriate level of humidity has been reached the fan will automatically revert back to its normal operation.

Heat recovery is a ventilation system that removes moist warm air from such areas as bathrooms and kitchens, this warmth of the exhaust air is used to heat the fresh intake air from outside the property and supplied to the such areas as the bedrooms and living rooms. This achieved by the use of a cross over cell / heat exchanger.
Heat recovery systems should be installed with rigid ducting and is normal hidden within the property. It is therefore essential that the ducting runs and integrity of ducting is understood before first fix installation.
All instantaneous showers should be connect to the rising mains water supply, unless the unit is a power shower or mixer unit, as there are limitations on water services in order for the unit to perform correctly. Units can be connected to a header tank providing there is adequate head height to generate a minimum of 0.7 bar pressure.
There is no problem as long as the water services for the shower is taken before the combi-boiler, as most boilers are governed to 1 Bar pressure and if services are taken afterwards running pressure can drop to less than 0.7 Bar.
All wiring must be carried out by a fully qualified electrician and must comply with the current wiring regulations to meet the specification of the unit to be installed.
If there is in-sufficient water pressure for your unit it would normally be down to a poor service from your service provider “lines could be blocked or restricted”, if this is not the case then your unit could be fed from a header tank with an adequate working head height.
The minimum running water pressure for the shower unit is 0.7 Bar
If replacing an existing unit you must ensure that your water and electrical services are adequate for the unit to be installed.
Redring Expressions 570 is an electric shower with integral pump. This is specifically design for cold water tank fed installations.
Your cable and fuse may need to be upgraded to accommodate a higher kilowatt shower. Consult a qualified electrician or phone our technical advice line on 0844 372 7766.
This would be dependent on several issues; the kilowatt rating of the shower, the cable run length and if cable runs through thermal insulation. You should install the shower in accordance with the current BS. 7671 (IEE Wiring Regulations) and Part P of the Building Regulations and/or local regulations. All Redring showers have water and cable entries on the right hand side of the product when viewed from the front. It should be noted that these are typically top, bottom and rear entry. The Advantage range has both left and right hand entries for water and cable in top, bottom and rear positions making it suitable for replacement of most other makes of shower. Please refer to the installation manual or website for further details.
Electric showers only take water from your mains cold water supply and heat this water by passing it over electrically heated elements. The temperature of the water you get from your shower and the flow rate is therefore determined by three key factors: 1. the temperature of your mains cold water supply (this can vary from 5OC in winter to 20OC in summer) 2. the heating ability of your element in kW 3. the pressure of your mains water supply In simple terms, the higher your chosen showers kW rating the better the potential water flow rate from your shower at your preferred showering temperature. As a guide you can see below how the kW rating affects your shower flow*: * 8.5kW up to 27% more flow than a 7.5kW heater * 9.5kW up to 42% more flow than a 7.5kW heater.
You can only pump water from a storage tank to feed to a shower; you can not pump mains water directly to a shower as it goes against local water by-laws.
Any unit except a power shower or mixer unit as these need to be gravity fed
There is no problem with any mains shower unit being fed from a combi system as long as the water services for the shower is taken before the combi-boiler as most boilers are governed to 1 Bar pressure and if services are taken afterwards running pressure can drop to less than 0.7 Bar
A power shower or mixer unit are the only recommended units as there are limitations on water services in order for any shower unit to perform correctly, standard mains shower units can only be connected to a header tank providing there is a adequate head height to generate a minimum of 0.7 bar pressure.
The installation must comply with the current wiring regulations to meet the specification of the unit to be installed. This all depends on the kW rating of the shower unit. Please see below: 7.2kW shower = 32 Amp fuse 7.5kW shower = 40 Amp fuse 8.5kW shower = 40 Amp fuse 9.5kW shower = 40/45 Amp fuse 10.5kW shower = 45 Amp fuse Please note in order to comply with the current building regulations you should have a competent certified installer carry out any electrical work to the IEE Wiring Regulations..
Redring would not recommend fitting a pump to the mains water supply. You should seek advice from your local water authority.

Wiring an electric shower to a supply that has another appliance contacted to it violates the IEE wiring regulations. This is an unsafe practice as the electrical circuit will be overloaded. This type of installation should be carried out by a qualified engineer. Please call our technical advice line on 0844 372 7766
In accordance with BS7671, the IEE wiring regulations and part P of the building regulations a means of electrical isolation (Disconnection of all electrical poles) is required. This is normally done through the use of a ceiling mounted double pole isolation switch, mounted either inside or outside of the bathroom but must not reachable whilst using the shower. The minimum water pressure required for a Redring shower is 0.7bar of dynamic water pressure.
Static water pressure is the pressure of water with the water circuits closed (Tap closed). Dynamic water pressure is the pressure of flowing water (Tap open). Typically static water pressure is greater than dynamic water pressure.
An electric shower is a shower that uses mains cold water only, this water is then heated by an electric element and distributed through a hose and shower head arrangement. The temperature of the water is controlled by either adjusting the element power or by adjusting the flow of the water. The benefits of this type of shower are that the shower can be used instantly as required. You do not use valuable heated stored water and is ideal for families and households were the amount of stored hot water is limited.

All Redring electric showers are approved for installation within a shower cubical.
An easy fit or compression fitting is required to connect to the unit, providing they meet the specification of the installation.
The installation must comply with the current wiring regulations to meet the specification of the unit to be installed. Recommended cable size: 7.2kW shower = 6 mm2 cable size 7.5kW shower = 10 mm2 cable size 8.5kW shower = 10 mm2 cable size 9.5kW shower = 10 mm2 cable size 10.5kW shower = 16mm2 cable size However please note in order to comply with the current building regulations you should have a competent certified installer carry out any electrical work to the IEE Wiring Regulations.
If the fuse is under rated then the fuse will keep blowing. If the fuse is over sized then if there is an electrical problem then the unit could burn out and this could be a potential fire hazard.
Most units unless other wise stated have the water entry on the bottom right hand side of the unit that can be connected to a water supply coming from bottom, rear or top of the unit, the electrical connection block is located on the right hand side, mid way and has a knockout section for cable entry.

If water is leaking from the base of the unit it could be due to the shower being over pressurised (a build up of lime scale or a bent/restricted shower hose) “water will be coming from a small black pipe behind the shower hose”
All serial numbers are located on the bottom left of the unit next to the water out-let hose
If you experience poor flow from your unit this could be due to poor water services or that the unit is being used on half heat setting and trying to achieve a hot shower “increasing the heat setting should increase the water flow rate”.
We would always recommend you register your shower as you will benefit from a free one year warranty extension and any service calls required by you will be dealt with more efficiently.
When the light is on it means the water in the unit has got too hot and that the safety device called a Thermal Cut Out has been activated. Water will continue flow from the shower and become cool. Once the temperature has cooled sufficiently the Thermal Cut Out will reset and allow power to the heating elements again. This will heat the water up again. Note, if you do not reduce the temperature setting this will continue to cycle between hot and cold. If the water remains cold permanently and does not cycle, your unit has activated the main one shot Thermal Cut Out device, which will need to be replaced by a qualified engineer. The temperature of the water from the shower is dependent on the water flow rate. If the temperature is too hot, increase the flow rate of the water with the temperature control knob. If the temperature of the water is too cold, reduce the flow rate of the water with the temperature control knob.
We would always recommend that you isolate your shower with the pull cord switch after use as general good practice.

This mean the pressure relief valve has activated. You will need to have the shower, hose and handset checked for blockages before the pressure relief valve is replaced. This will need to be checked and replaced by a qualified engineer. Please call our technical advice line on 0844 372 7766
The thermal cut out is a safety device which protects the shower from overheat conditions, and does not control the temperature of the out coming water.
This is due to some models of shower having a phased shutdown facility incorporated in them. This allows the hot water to be flushed out with cold water for a period of 7 seconds., and prevents a surge of hot water being emitted if the shower is switched on again soon after use.
The Selectronic shower is available in four product ranges. The Selectronic Premier and Shower Safe ranges which are ideal for family showering and the Selectronic and Selectronic Plus ranges which are ideal for the care market. This means that the shower will maintain the required temperature irrespective of the changing inputs such as water temperature, water pressure and the fluctuation in electrical voltages.
To cool the shower you need to press the cooler button once you will notice the display digit drops by one number each time the button is pressed. It should be noted that this function operates with the shower in both modes Normal and Temperature Lock.
The Selectronic shower has two modes of operation Normal and Temperature Lock. When the shower is in the temperature lock mode the shower will not exceed the preset maximum temperature. This is of particular benefit when the shower is to be used by the less-able, elderly and children.
The shower can temporarily be taken out of temp lock whilst the shower is running. This is carried out by pressing the warmer and cooler buttons at the same time for more than 3 seconds, you will notice the temp lock light go out, the shower is now in normal operating mode. The shower will revert back to temp lock mode next time the shower is used.
To change the flow of your shower press the flow button, the shower will beep and the flow will change the temperature of your shower will not be effected by changing the flow. It should be noted that this feature is not available on the Selectronic Premier as this is a fully automatic shower.
This is due to the Selectronic shower having a phased shutdown facility incorporated in it’s logic. This allows the hot water to be flushed out with cooler water until 35Â°C is reached. You will notice when your shower is in the mode the display scrolls round and round until this cycle is complete, then stops automatically.
To commission your shower firstly you must ensure that the services to the shower are switched on and that the shower is in normal mode and not temperature lock mode using the switch located on the main logic PCB. After checking this press the start / stop button, then press the cooler button 5 times until the display shows number 1. Allow the unit to fill with water and wait for water to come out of the handset. Increase the temperature by pressing the warmer button and wait for the water temperature to increase, when this has been achieved press the start / stop button again and the shower will stop. Reset the switch on the main PCB. This is the commissioning process complete. This procedure must be carried out on installation by the installing engineer. This is normal and is not a fault. The noise is omitted from a small motor within the shower which alters the flow, this operates each time the shower is used.
To increase the temperature of the shower you need to press the warmer button once, you will notice the display digit increases by one number each time the button is pressed. It should be noted that this function does not only work with the shower in Temperature Lock mode.
If your shower shows OT in the display, this indicates that the shower has detected an abnormal condition and has shutdown straight away stopping the flow of water. OT will remain in the display until the shower has cooled and reset at which point it will switch off automatically. This process can speed up by purging the shower of hot water..

You can purge your shower of hot water whilst the shower is displaying “OT” This is achieved by pressing the cooler button and the flow button at the same time for approximately 20 seconds. NOTE: The initial water purged may be very hot so please take care.
A mixer shower is a shower that is connected to both the hot water supply and cold water supply. The shower then mixes these water supplies to the required temperature, this is normally controlled by the customer adjusting a control valve.
You cannot pump mains water as per the 1999 water supply regulations, this prohibits boost pumps to be connected directly to cold water supply of your shower.

The shower head and delivery hose can retain a large volume of water. This can be expelled as dripping after the shower has been switched off. (This can occur for some time after the shower session has ended)
A cylinder flange can be used to supply the hot water feed to the mixer. Usually a tee into the inclined section of pipe from the top of the cylinder is sufficient, provided the tee is pointing down. (This ensures any air released from the hot water bypasses the tee and vents through the expansion pipe).
The cold water pack is required if the first cold water outlet is within 3 meters of a 10 litre product and within 4.5 metres of a 15 litre product. Or if you’re static water pressure is greater than 6.0bar
Vented system has a cold water header tank directly feeding the hot water cylinder, this system is vented through an open pipe within the system. An unvented system has the hot water cylinder fed directly from the rising cold main. This system has a series of pressure valve and is not vented through a vent pipe.
On most vented and unvented systems standard taps can be used. It should be noted that the Redring WS7 and Contour 7000 vented units need special open vented hot water taps.
You can supply hot water to either two hand basins or one hand basin and a shower mixer valve. It should be noted that you can only operate one outlet at a time.
This is not recommended as the open flow of a sink tap is greater than the products capability to supply hot water at a suitable temperature.
You should de-scale your SB2 in accordance with the instruction manual and the hardness of water in your local area.
As the Dualheat product is vented and unvented which stores over 15 litres of stored water then any person working on a Dualheat must be CITB approved.

This is happening due to the lack of pressure within the expansion vessel. The expansion vessel will need to be recharged, this must be done a qualified engineer.
There are two types of products that we would recommend, the Redring Ascari flow boiler and the Redring Powerstream Professional. These are both capable of meeting your needs, however you should note that you will also need a Redring LWSS water cylinder to store your domestic hot water. Dualheat boiler can be replaced by the use of an Ascari boiler, used in conjunction with an LWSS cylinder.

This is normal and not a fault with the product , as this is due to the way the product vents when heating the stored water.
It is recommended that you inspect the sacrificial anode yearly and replace as required. Replacement anodes are available from our spares department by calling 0844 372 7750.

The use of thermostatic blending valves it is not recommended for use with a Powerstream product, as this type of valve tries to control an already defined water temperature.
